    This
listing is for a solid "American CHERRY WOOD" drying rack with 20+2
REM0VABLE HEX based pins......Traditional Long Pin style mandrel tips with
    HEX bases.
Plus, 3 American CHERRY WOOD wood handles & matching magnetic base holder:
    1. Matching "Quick Release" handle
    2. Matching
    traditional "Thumb Screw/Set Screw" handle.
    3
Matching allen wrench handle if you prefer a set screw to a thumb screw
    4. Matching American CHERRY WOOD magnetic base holder for convenient access and storage for your 3 handles
If look you closely at the picture, you will see that this 20 pin rack actually has 21 pins  PLUS the extra pin shown in the picture….. So- the "+2” are the FREE pins that are referred in the heading of this listing.
These tips are almost identical in dimensions to those made for years by FOX, Rieger, Christlieb, & others....with one big exception: these are made of stainless steel rather than cheaper, less durable carbon steel or brass. They also have two hash marks for initial pre-reaming
placement of your blanks when forming.
The top hash mark is for forming bassoon reeds and the bottom is for forming contra reeds
Other than the use of stainless, the only other difference is that these tips are HEX based rather than circular based
The hex formation at the bottom is specially constructed as to prevent slipping and rotating when used with the "Quick Release" handles I sell (check my other listings), or with the traditional "Thumb Screw" handles.
It is important to note that they are slightly larger at the base than typical mandrel tips, and may not fit into an existing thumb screw type handle that you already own. They are also made for drying
boards that have 19/64"/7.5mm holes, which is slightly larger than the the standard 1/4" (16/64") hole.
I also have many other inexpensive drying boards for sale in my online store, or, if you do not see what you want, I can custom make it for you.
These mandrel pins are precision made from stainless steel & will never tarnish. Although slightly more costly, the choice of stainless steel for these mandrels (not brass or standard less expensive steel), guarantees these tips will not rust or tarnish,
and additionally, provide an extremely smooth surface for forming.
    Made
here in the USA, by a high tech machining company that does most of its work for GE & the military, the stainless tips are specially designed to match the ideal internal dimensions of the bassoon tube at the butt end, and in the critical area between the middle wire & throat.
As we all know, cane goes through some radical changes during its drying cycles....especially right after forming.
    Longer rem
This 20+2 pin base & the magnetic base holder are all
made of American CHERRY WOOD, as are the 3 handles you will receive to go with it.
