has signs of external wood damage (normal, in my experience, with bassoon players that are a bit careless with assembly of their instruments). There are a couple of cracks in the wood which have been repaired long ago and show no signs of opening up either now or in the future.
We have meticulously re-padded it

pads. All the corks and felts have been replaced.
