    Description

    Rare Batchelder Rampant Lion Corbel Tile Engobe Antique Signed Circa 1920s.  Very good condition.  PLEASE NOTE LISTING IS FOR 1 CORBEL TILE THIS IS NOT A PAIR.  Some light wear to top of brick section ( please see photos). I have been told that this tile is engobe and looks exactly how he is supposed to look.  This is in the Batchelder catalogue page 32 #218B Left Facing Lion Corbel.     Lion measures 7.5" x 4" and is approximately 2" deep. He is numbered F351 on the rear inside and has a Batchelder imprint at the top and Batchelder Los Angeles at the bottom rear.  I have put cinnamon in each signature to bring out the details. I have been told that this lion is modeled after the lion corbels on Batchelder's fireplace in his house in Pasadena. The fireplace was a gift to his bride. They can be seen if you look online at photos of his fireplace. He used his own family crest on those lions but not on the ones that were for sale. A nice decorative piece that would be great displayed with other Batchelder tiles.
    This tile will be well packed and double boxed.
